Stayed at closeby Piccolo hotel because ABC was apparently full. The WiFi connection was running poorly, if at all. The door handle/lock was defective (room #6) and it was difficult to get in/out without help from staff. I once had to call the reception to get me out of the room.
location is very good, the hotel is rather clean and comfortable, helpful stuff, sufficient breakfast, modern bathroom
rather small rooms, no internet access
It's proximity to Paddington station made it a good location for a stay in London. The breakfast was quite good. House keeping was very diligent... though they seemed to think I was leaving the next morning and packed up my luggage for me while I was out. ;) I was staying 2 nights.
Room was clean and neat but shower door was broken and would not close properly. It appeared to have been that way for a long time. Parts were sitting in a bathroom glass during the duration of my stay. Very tiny room with no place to set my luggage - had to be either on the bed or on the floor blocking the door.
Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Small, cramped rooms, delapidated furniture and bathrooms. Watch out for them trying to add a "credit card surcharge" to your bill. Never again.
The location, which was the only reason we booked it for. It is a 5-minute walk from Hyde Park
They emailed us on the day we were flying asking us to confirm our reservation. As we were flying we could not answer so they cancelled our reservation. Upon arrival we were able to check in and were then asked to leave 30 minutes later per the above. Read the reviews, they've done this before. The worst hotel experience I have ever had. Do not go to ABC Hyde Park Hotel.
My wife spotted mice in the dining area by our room (No1), After we complained we were given a new room (No15) which had damp. They refused to give any discount when we said we wouldn't be eating breakfast for obvious reasons. As for the mice the receptionist said "it's ok the back door must have been left open"
The hotel is very well situated to Hyde Park-merely a five minute walk which was ideal for the festival I attended. There are a wide variety of places to eat at the end of the road and Paddington Train Station is only five minutes away. Very good for convenience.
Support service from staff
Blankets not properly clean
Close to Paddington Station and Hyde Park on shaded street. Staff was helpful and check-in was smooth. Room was small but clean, pleasantly furnished, and well-lit. Were able to give us breakfast very early in order to make an early morning trip to Heathrow.
I thought the hotel was in a good location, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast average. Room was clean and comfortable.
We were on the top floor and there was a door onto the roof, it had a key which could be turned to lock but not properly and the key could not be removed. As this room was a family room I think for health and safey reasons that this door should lock properly, if a child got out on to the roof then they could easily fall. I noticed there was no fire regulation notices in the room which I thought was very bad.
I was suprised by service in the hotel which was rather economic, but nevertheless, we had changed towels every day, bath tackles or breakfast with choices, kettle with tea, coffee and milk in the room. Staff was friendly. Room decrations were nice. Location is perfect, 10min to Hyde Park and a lot of shops and cafes around it.
The only disadvantages for this class of hotel is a limit of space, small rooms and a very little bathroom.
the friendly staff and the location
as expected, it was small and the shower equipment was broken
Small hotel, but very private attitude from staff. Lovely small room, clean.
in breakfast could be more selection.
Its location to Paddington Station.
We checked in to a first floor room that shared a balcony with the room next door. Upon realizing that the balcony door didn`t lock, we asked to be switched and we were. Our new room however was extremely dirty and uncomfortable. Stained sheets, stained towels, blood or rust on the shower mat, and incredibly cramped quarters. We went down to breakfast in the morning, and there were ants crawling all over the tables and the food on the buffet. Totally unacceptable.
I was visiting London for a international job fair in Paddington and this hotel was perfect for what I needed. It was clean and the room was well presented, with free internet. It was a couple of minutes walk to Paddington Station and to bars and restaurants. Fabulous location for anyone visiting this area. The guy that was working the reception was lovely, friendly and helpful and made me feel very comfortable. As a woman travelling on her own, I felt extremely safe. I would definately stay again.
